Good Skincare Habits For Healthier Skin

As women old, it is just natural that natural aging process shows up in the skin. It becomes thinner gradually and there are fine wrinkles that start to appear. Such problems could be worsened by busy and less healthy lifestyle. The oil producing glands (sebaceous) start to grow less active. Thus, the skin is left drier and more prone to other damages, which could further speed up the skin aging process. The overall number of functional blood vessels also decreases, making the skin more fragile, less glowing, and less youthful.

Needless to say, proper and healthy skincare could significantly help delay any natural skin aging process. It could also help avoid a number of skin ailments and problems. Such skincare strategies could include avoidance of prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, gently and regular washing of the skin, and application of skin moisturizer. There are many other skincare habits that could help keep the skin glowing, healthy, and youthful within the countless years to come.

Protect the skin from the sun

Many times over, skin experts have been asking you to avoid getting your skin exposed to sunlight. Ultraviolet rays could ultimately damage your skin and bring about formation of deep wrinkles, liver spots, age spots, and dry/ rough skin. Other than those, there could also be more dangerous possibilities, including formation of cancerous and noncancerous skin tumors. Most changes observed in aging skin are caused by long periods or lifetimes of direct sun exposure.

Stop smoking

Many studies have already proven that there is a direct relationship between smoking and faster skin aging. Wrinkles are more likely to form if you would continue smoking. It has also been found that unlikely skin changes could appear within 10 years after a young adult starts to smoke cigarettes. This bad habit could also cause narrowing of small blood vessels within the outermost skin layers. When this happens, blood flow is decreased and skin supply of oxygen, vitamins, and other important nutrients are depleted. Repetitive facial expressions when smoking could contribute to formation of wrinkles in the facial skin, like pursing of lips and squinting of eyes.

Moisturize regularly

You should realize that moisturizers are helping keep the skin’s natural moisture at an optimal level. Such products could work by providing your skin a natural form of seal so that water could be prevented from escaping. Moisturizers also help the skin facilitate slow release of water through the skin (an important process like in sweating). When picking up any moisturizing product, be sure to consider many factors like overall skin type, age, and skin health (watch out for formation of acne). You could wait for 20 minutes following taking a bath to test if your skin already needs to have moisturizer. If the skin feels uncomfortably and unnaturally tight, you should not hesitate to immediately apply a good skin moisturizer.

Of course, overall, a healthy lifestyle would be a good skincare and anti-aging strategy. Have plenty of rest and sleep, eat nutritious meals, drink lots of liquids, and avoid incurring too much stress. You need to exert effort to slow down the natural skin aging process.
