Principles Of Skin Care For A Naturally Beautiful And Healthy Skin

Just imagine if you could turn back the clock for your skin and make it youthful and fresh once again. What would you give to make this dream come true? The good news is – it doesn’t actually take much to make your skin healthy and beautiful again. Just a few simple skin care precautions and using the right kind of products – that’s about it!

So let’s start by talking about the skin care basics you need to get right.

Fact is – the condition of our skin is closely related to our internal health. If we are not healthy inside and our body is lacking in essential nutrients – there is no way our skin can remain healthy and look good. The deficiencies are bound to show up in the form of a dull, tired, patchy looking skin.

To avoid this from happening, you need to ensure your body is getting all the nutrients it needs by having a balanced diet. Include plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables in your diet to provide your body with all the vitamins, minerals and proteins it needs.

Drinking plenty of water not only flushes out the toxins from your system, but also keeps the skin moisturized and supple.

Protection against harsh weather conditions is also necessary to avoid damage to the skin cells.

Once all this is in place, then you can think about the skin care products you should be using.

The best thing to do here is to look for products that contain natural substances for benefiting the skin. This will keep you safe from the side effects of chemical based creams and lotions and will also provide longer lasting results.

Look for skin care creams containing ingredients like Cynergy TK™. This extract from the wool of New Zealand sheep stimulates the production of Collagen and Elastin in the body and helps in keeping the skin firm and wrinkle free. It also helps in the production of new skin cells to replace the old and damaged ones, and keeps the skin healthy and damage free.

Phytessence Wakame is a sea kelp from Japan that keeps the skin healthy by nourishing it with a host of vitamins and minerals. It also prevents the onset of age spots by protecting the skin from the UV rays of the sun.

Avocado Oil is a luxurious plant based oil that penetrates deep into the skin. It moisturizes the skin from within and keeps it soft and supple. This oil is also helpful in removing the age spots from the skin and also helps in relieving the itchiness and dryness of the skin associated with psoriasis and eczema.

Organic Skin Care Products – Why These Are a Must For a Healthy Glow

October 26th, 2009

* What is it?

Organic skin care, as the name clearly suggests, is an effective yet simple way to take good care of your skin by using organic products.

* Is it good for my skin?

Yes, it is very good for your skin. In fact, several skin care experts say that it is a lot safer to use organic products as opposed to products that contain artificial chemicals.

* Why do they say so?

Organic skin care products are free of chemicals. They contain natural substances like natural oil extracts, plant extracts, and herbal extracts which are very good for your skin. Unlike products that contain artificial chemicals, they do not cause any side effects.

* I have sensitive skin. Can I use these products?

Yes, you can. In fact, if your skin is very sensitive, you should make sure that you only use organic skin care products. The skin care products that people normally use contain chemicals like triclosans, parabens, liquid paraffin, phenol carbolic acid, artificial fragrance and mineral oils. All these chemicals are harmful to your health and can cause serious health problems in the long term. Some of these chemicals can trigger severe allergic reactions if your skin is very sensitive. So, it is a lot safer to use organic products which do not contain these chemicals.

* I have wrinkles, lines, cracks, and dark circles. My skin is saggy. I look like a 45-year-old when I am actually only 30. How can organic skin care help me?

You can get rid of all these problems by using good skin care products. High quality organic products can boost the amount of hyaluronic acid in your skin, increase the collagen and elastin production in your skin, promote new cell growth to get rid of wrinkles, lines, and cracks, and rejuvenate your skin cells. They also fight the free radicals in your body and prevent cell damage. They moisturize your skin thoroughly and make it smooth and soft. In short, they can make your skin younger and healthier.

* Are all organic skin care products this good?

This is a very important question. You need to remember that not all organic products are equally good. In fact, some of them are not really ‘organic’, if you know what I mean. They usually contain a lot of artificial chemicals, including some of the harmful chemicals I have mentioned above, as preservatives. So, you must make sure the product you choose does not contain these chemicals.

* How can I choose the best organic skin care products?

First and foremost, you should make sure that the product does not contain any of the chemicals mentioned above. Second, you should look for the following substances – phytessence wakame, witch hazel, cynergy TK, babassu, coenzyme Q10, active manuka honey, natural vitamin E, and the extracts of essential oils like olive, macadamia, grapeseed, avocado, and jojoba. All these substances are completely natural and they are very effective at fighting aging skin problems.

* Are organic skin care products very expensive?

Some of these products could be a little costlier when compared to cheap knockoffs which contain nothing but artificial chemicals. However, they are certainly affordable. In fact, most people who use these products say that they are worth more than what they paid for, since they give amazing results in a relatively short period of time.

* What is the right way to use these products?

Organic skin care products are meant for long term use. After you start using these products, within a month or two, you will find a lot of improvements in your skin condition. However, you should not stop using these products once your skin condition improves. You should use them regularly to get the best results. By using them every day, you can keep your skin young and healthy for a long time.

Healthy Hair Myths Debunked

October 26th, 2009

There are some beliefs about hair treatment that have been around for a long time and are not only false but are actually harmful to your hair. One of these has to do with the old adage that you should brush your hair one hundred strokes each night. If Mom taught you this, she was wrong. Excessive brushing, and one hundred strokes is excessive, does nothing but pull your hair out. To maintain a healthy head of hair the number one rule is to treat it gently. That means don’t brush or comb roughly or excessively.

There is also some inaccurate information about shampooing floating around. One myth is that you have to shampoo twice to get hair squeaky clean. Of course, we do want our hair clean but, unless your hair is very dirty, one application of shampoo is sufficient. And your hair will not be any cleaner if you shampoo it in hot water. Instead use warm water to shampoo and cool water to rinse.

But it does matter what kind of shampoo you use. While it is tempting to choose whatever brand is on sale at your local grocery store, some shampoos are too harsh for your hair. Use a mild shampoo and choose one that is formulated for your hair type. If you dye your hair, it is especially important to choose a gentle shampoo for color treated hair. And while you may have also read that hair dryers will damage your hair, this is not so. Either hand held or hood dryers are safe for your hair if you use them properly. However, the best way to dry your hair is either to gently towel dry or just let it air dry.

Another myth concerns dandruff. Dandruff is not a danger to your health. It is usually the result of a very common skin problem known as seborrheic dermatitis. It can also be due to another skin problem called psoriasis in which the growth of new skin cells is unusually rapid causing small bits of skin to flake off. The cause is not known. An environment where the air is either very cold or very hot and dry will also cause the scalp to be more vulnerable to flaking and itching. While dandruff does not affect the health of your scalp or your hair, it is a condition that generally lasts for a long time and requires on going treatment.

There are many anti-dandruff shampoos available. The most effective ones have active ingredients that include tar, sulfur, selenium and salicylic acid. When you take your daily shower, wet your hair and apply the shampoo. Rub it in well, covering all parts of your scalp. Wait at least two minutes before rinsing. Rinse with lukewarm water. People with dandruff do need to be careful about using hot dryers and electric curlers, as they tend to cause your scalp to dry out. If the shampoo does not work then you will need professional help. Your doctor can prescribe various preparations that will relieve the symptoms.

9 Steps To Cleaner And Healthier Skin

October 8th, 2009

According to Bestskinpeel, for cleaner, healthier and easier to manage skin just follow this list of nine items:

1) Lower your stress level through prayer and meditation. Stress creates hormones that actually age us as they destroy cells and create toxic biproducts and free radicals. Studies have shown that prayer and meditation can reduce our stress levels. Prayer and meditation have been proven to even alleviate some of the symptoms of cancer and other life threatening diseases.

2) Drink plenty of water. It is a fact that 90% of us do not drink enough water. For your skin cells to function properly and heal properly from cuts, etc… we need to drink 8-12 glasses of water every day. Our skin is one of our most important organs as it protects us from disease, cushions our falls, etc… It needs plenty of water.

3) Get proper sleep. Not getting the proper 8-10 hours of sleep per day will first show in your skin. Broken capillaries, puffiness, circles under the eyes.

4) Eat well. Get proper nutrition. Too many junk foods can cause or worsen skin problems like pimples and acne. A well balanced meal 3 times per day has been proven to help alleviate spikes in skin problems and help to average out the outbreaks in acne vulgaris.

5) Take vitamins to supplement your skin and body. We can’t always make sure we get 100% of each vitamin and mineral with the foods we eat, but we can take a multivitamin once a day. They are cheap at Walmart and there is no excuse. People that take multivitamins once a day live longer. Its a proven fact just like persons that smoke take years off their lives.

6) Properly clean your skin. Harsh soaps can dry out your skin and even stimulate further sebum (oil) production which can worsen acne. Use a mild cleanser with 2% salicylic acid. This has been proven very effective in ridding excess oils while maintaining proper hydration and pH. The slight acidity will keep bacteria at bay.

7) Don’t smoke. Smoking puts years on you. Literally, smoking can add 10 years to the aged look of your skin. Why would you want to do that? If you must have nicotine then get nicotine gum or the patch – they will cure your cravings and there is no evidence or statistics of anyone developing cancer, lung disease, etc… from these.

8) Wear sunscreen. The skin does have keratonin to protect against the suns rays, but it is no match for UV rays, etc… that we expose ourselves to. Melanoma has several forms and all are deadly. If you don’t think you will get skin cancer or think you are invulnerable, just go to your local dermatologist and ask to see pictures of clients with skin cancer, better yet go to the oncology center at your local hospital. You won’t think that way ever again. Wear sunscreen.

9) Treat yourself to a spa treatment atleast once a year. Skin peels, TCA peels, deep tissue massage, complete relaxation, aromatherapy, etc… will all energize and heal your skin. TCA peels will actual improve your skins ability to regenerate itself and improve collagen levels.

Remember, follow these nine steps to enjoy healthier skin.
