Home Water Purification Secrets To Keep You Safe and Healthy

November 19th, 2009

 Powered by Max Banner Ads

If you are looking to get a water purification device then it pays to learn which type to look for and which to avoid. With so many available, the choice can seem bewildering, but with a little knowledge the task becomes quite simple.

Unfortunately, home water purification has become almost a necessity today with all the contaminants and outbreaks of disease related to water pollution, and with many municipals introducing chloramines to clean the supplies instead of chlorine, the situation is deteriorating further.

Chloramine is a mixture of chlorine and ammonia and as it stays in the supplies for longer it leaches out toxic lead from the pipes, including the ones in your home. Therefore any water purifier you get needs to be able to take out lead effectively for starters as over 1 in 5 Americans now have their water treated this way.

The secret to pure, healthy water is to select a multi-step carbon block system with ion exchange and sub micron filtering as these are proven to remove 99% of all the bad stuff yet still leave in the essential trace minerals like calcium which are good for us.

The bad stuff includes an ever growing list of pesticides, herbicides, chlorine, lead, prescription drugs and PCB’s and it’s estimated that you have a 93% higher chance of getting cancer if you use chlorinated water, without some form of home water purification.

If you don’t get a whole house system to clean all your water, then it’s worth looking at getting a shower filter in addition to the regular countertop type as you can absorb more toxins, especially chloroform, in a 10 minute shower than by drinking over two liters of unfiltered water!

If you want the peace of mind that comes from having the most effective home water purification available to keep your family safe, then follow these guidelines and you can soon start enjoying great tasting healthy water as it should be, free from any harmful chemicals.

Guidelines to Find Efficient Health Insurance Plans

October 28th, 2009

Our objective must be to do the necessary research and select an efficient health plan that fully meets our needs. But avoiding insurance coverage altogether will be imprudent as the repercussions will be far-reaching. Medical bills from even a casual illness or a minor car accident can ruin one’s savings and a major illness and prolonged treatment can push one into bankruptcy.

Group coverage health insurance, particularly those subsidized by employers is indeed the most efficient and cheap form of health insurance one can aspire for. It is by far the best than any plan you can get on your own.

When it comes to health insurance plans, there is nothing like standard coverage. Each plan is unique and the benefits and costs also differ widely from plan to plan. This makes the selection of the most efficient health plan somewhat daunting as you will have to scrupulously study each scheme to arrive at the best deal.

One has to be guarded as even the seemingly best coverage plans have loopholes. You can rely on your health insurance to cover you for a hospital stay as a priority. Most policies do cover doctor visits, but benefits for mental health, prescription drugs and dental care are strictly optional.

The unfortunate aspect is even health plans with the best and most comprehensive coverage with the lowest out-of-pocket cost restricts you to use a specified network of hospitals, doctors, labs, and other healthcare providers. The more flexibility you demand, the more you will be called up on to pay – either towards premiums or as co-payments.

It is necessary that you check out the network of doctors ,hospitals and labs before signing up. The fact is a growing number of public and private sources compile information on the track records of individual doctors, hospitals, and health plans.

Although it is relieving to know that both state and federal regulations protect you from losing your health coverage even in the event you lose your job, they seldom offer protection from the high premium costs.

The piquant situation arises when both you and your spouse have employer health insurance, then you will have to make the hard choice whether it makes better sense to continue with two policies or opt for one of them to cover the other. If you have kids, again you need to decide who’s going to cover them.

As per present tax laws, the standard medical expenses including insurance premiums, are not tax deductible unless they expenses exceed 7.5 percent of your income. However, if you happen to be self-employed or your employer offers a flexible spending account, you can get a tax break whatever the threshold limits.

As regards efficiency, here is an interesting observation made by somebody – “In the doctor”office, you are not the customer, you are the patient and the insurer (and therefore the employer) is the one paying the bill. The one to be respected is the one that pays the bill and not the poor patient. It is also the fault of the society that, over the years, we have got accustomed to being treated callously at all healthcare centers. It is only in a hospital or at a doctor’s office does one have to wait for long hours after the

appointment time? Until healthcare becomes consumer driven and consumer pays for the service, there is no possibility for receiving any real quality medical care.

Congenital Heart Surgery In India At Affordable Low Cost

July 18th, 2009

We Care Health Services Logo

Congenital Heart Surgery

What is a congenital cardiovascular defect ?

Congenital means inborn or existing at birth. Among the terms you may hear are congenital heart defect, congenital heart disease and congenital cardiovascular disease. The word “defect” is more accurate than “disease.” A congenital cardiovascular defect occurs when the heart or blood vessels near the heart don’t develop normally before birth.

What causes congenital cardiovascular defects ?

Heredity sometimes plays a role in congenital cardiovascular defects. More than one child in a family may have a congenital cardiovascular defect, but this rarely occurs. Certain conditions affecting multiple organs, such as Down’s syndrome, can involve the heart, too. Some prescription drugs and over-the-counter medicines, as well as alcohol and “street” drugs, may increase the risk of having a baby with a heart defect. Researchers are studying other factors…

What are the types of congenital defects ?

The following defects are described in this section : -

> Aortic stenosis (AS)
> Atrial septal defect (ASD)
> Atrioventricular (A-V) canal defect
> Bicuspid aortic valve
> Coarctation of the aorta (”Coarct”)
> Ebstein’s anomaly
> Eisenmenger’s complex
> Hypoplastic left heart syndrome
> Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA)
> Pulmonary atresia
> Pulmonary stenosis (PS)
> Subaortic stenosis
> Tetralogy of Fallot
> Total anomalous pulmonary venous (P-V) connection
> Transposition of the great arteries
> Tricuspid atresia
> Truncus arteriosus
> Ventricular septal defect (VSD)

Congenital heart defect corrective surgeries

Definition

Congenital heart defect corrective surgeries fix or treat heart defects that a child is born with. A baby born with heart defects has congenital heart disease. Surgery is needed if the defects are dangerous to the child’s health or well-being.

Description

The surgeries described below are done to correct many different heart defects in children. For more information about risks, how to prepare for surgery, and descriptions of open-heart and closed-heart surgery techniques…

Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) ligation : -

Before birth, there is a natural blood vessel between the aorta (the main artery to the body) and the pulmonary artery (the main artery to the lungs) called the ductus arteriosus. This opening usually closes shortly after birth. A PDA occurs when this opening fails to close…

Coarctation of the aorta repair : -

Coarctation of the aorta occurs when a part of the aorta has a very narrow section, like in an hourglass timer. To repair this defect, an incision is usually made on the left side of the chest, between the ribs…

Atrial septal defect (ASD) repair : -

The atrial septum is the wall between the left and right atria (upper chambers) of the heart. There is a natural opening before birth that usually closes on its own when a baby is born. When the flap does not close, the child has an ASD…

Ventricular septal defect (VSD) repair : -

The ventricular septum is the wall between the left and right ventricles (lower chambers) of the heart. A hole in the ventricular septum is called a VSD…

Tetralogy of Fallot repair : -

Tetralogy of Fallot is a congenital heart defect that usually includes 4 defects in the heart.
Open-heart surgery is needed, and it is often done when the child is between 6 months and 2 years of age…

Transposition of the great vessels repair : -

In a normal heart, the aorta comes from the left side of the heart, and the pulmonary artery comes from the right side. Transposition of the great vessels is when these arteries come from the opposite sides of the heart…

Truncus arteriosus repair : -

Truncus arteriosus is a rare condition that occurs when the aorta, coronary arteries, and the pulmonary artery all come out of one common trunk. This is a very complex defect, and it requires complex open-heart surgery to repair it…

Tricuspid atresia repair :-

The tricuspid valve is the valve between the upper and lower chambers on the right side of the heart. Tricuspid atresia occurs when this valve is missing. To get to the lungs, blood must cross an atrial septal defect (ASD), ventricular septal defect (VSD), or a patent ductus artery (PDA). (These conditions are described above.) This severely restricts blood flow to the lungs…

Total anomalous pulmonary venous return (TAPVR) correction : -

TAPVR occurs when the pulmonary veins bring oxygen-rich blood from the lungs back to the right side of the heart, instead of to the left side of the heart, where it should be…

Hypoplastic left heart repair : -

This is a very severe heart defect that results from a severely underdeveloped left heart. If it is not treated, it causes death in most babies who are born with it. Operations to treat this defect are done at specialized medical centers. Usually surgery corrects this defect. A series of 3 heart operations is usually needed…

How Does Drinking Water Quality Affect The Long Term Health Of My Family?

July 16th, 2009

When it comes to drinking water quality, although it varies from state to state, the general picture is one of widespread contamination and not enough regulation. This can have a serious impact on the long term health of your family, but there are ways to avoid it.

In the early 1900’s, before the widespread use of chlorine, pesticides, herbicides and the thousands of other chemicals that we are exposed to each and every day, the average American had a 1 in 50 chance of getting cancer, today 1 out of 3 people can expect to get cancer in their lifetime, with 1 out of 2 men falling victim to it.

Many of the premature deaths that occur today have been put down to the poor drinking water quality.

If you use water with chlorine in then you have a 93% higher chance of getting cancer than those whose supplies don’t contain chlorine or who use home filtration.

Pure healthy water helps you eliminate all the toxins and boosts your immune system with detoxification being probably the single most important component of long-term health and well-being.

With an abundant intake of clean, healthy water we allow the body to perform all the healing processes that it is naturally capable of, helping you to live a longer and healthier life.

If you want to significantly improve your drinking water quality, then a home filtration system will probably be the best health investment you could make for your family. The most effective ones are activated carbon blocks systems.

The very best employ a multi-stage filter and ion exchange to remove over 99% of all the contaminants present to leave you with great tasting healthy water as it should be, with essential trace minerals left in which other systems remove, like reverse osmosis.

With the increasing use of chemicals in our society today and our increasing reliance on prescription drugs, the situation looks set to deteriorate further with under-funded municipal treatments with out of date technology.

Make sure your drinking water quality is as good as it can be to safeguard the health of your family for now and the future.

Visit my website today if you would like to learn more about the types of water filtration systems that I personally recommend and use.

Prescription Drugs in Drinking Water Could Pose a Health Threat

July 11th, 2009

When I hear about prescription drugs in drinking water I shudder to think how that might affect my bodily health and that of my family. The list includes things like antidepressants and tranquilizers. Just stop and think about it, if I’m really ingesting these drugs over a long time what are the side-effects going to be?

These reports are not just one off as you might think, such comments seem to be cropping up even in local news reports.

Maybe when you delve a little deeper into the subject matter as I did, you begin to uncover some startling and rather worrying facts. This article will look at just a few.
One simple fact is that more and more medications are being prescribed by doctors, medical centers and hospitals. Some statistics make staggering reading and you have to pinch yourself to check you are not dreaming!

It does not take a lot of imagination to see that if it’s happening in each and every medical facility then multiply that nationally gives a different take on the problem.

Drugs in the drinking water is just one more thing to add to the list of other contaminants that threaten our supply. Because it looks clear hides the fact that many of these nasty drugs are easily soluble and odorless. The authorities claim that the doses  are so small they are negligible but my question is who determines what is a safe level?

These pharmaceuticals are always talked about being present in water as parts per million. For my own protection and that of my family I have installed a filter system that reduces these parts per million right down to double figures, where before using one they were in the four or five figure range.

Maybe we ought to be more interested in our water and not take the so called experts word for granted.

Peter Foremski is Editor of and cares passionately about the quality of water that he drinks and uses. You too can share in that information on where to find the best water filtration products So for purer, cleaner water begin your ‘thirst’ for knowledge here.
