Exercise and Nutritious Eating Are the Cornerstones to a Healthy Life

The weight loss market abounds with pills, creams, and every doo-dad you can name under the sun. Even though there are so many weight loss aids, many people still choose to lose weight “naturally”, without the assistance of weight loss pills or pre-packaged meals.

The natural weight loss movement is highly commendable. It is a road that takes hard work, and is well worth it in the end. Exercising and healthy eating are the two most important components of the natural weight loss plan.

When the subject of healthy eating comes up, many people draw a blank as to where to begin. Healthy recipes and foods can be found through some research – online, in your local bookstore, from a medical professional, or from a nutrition professional (like a dietician). Once you know the how, what, and whys of what you are going to be putting into your mouth, the dieting journey can be an adventure full of new sights, tastes, and techniques. Variety is important to any diet, as there is a tendency to stick to a few familiar recipes and eat the same meal over and over again. Pick up a few more cookbooks or look into taking a class or two. The effort you place into learning how to feed yourself will pay dividends for the rest of your life.

Exercise is also an important part of a healthy individual’s life. For many, it can be as simple as attending their local gym or weight loss center, or putting on a pair of shoes for a daily walk or run. This can also be a prime opportunity for one to start a new sport or learn a new skill. Exercise DVDs can be readily purchased for at-home viewing, and can often be a great introduction into yoga, pilates, dancing, or self-defense.

Similarly to nutrition, exercise is most effective when varied. Back-to-back days of training in the same activity may lead to strain and unnecessary injuries. It is always recommended that you wait 48 hours before commencing with the activity. For example, running on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and using the Elliptical Machine on Tuesdays and Thursdays, is an effective weight-loss exercise regime. Running daily from Monday through Friday will not allow sufficient time for muscles to heal and grow stronger – ultimately leading to weakening of the muscles.

Exercising can be divided into two main groups – aerobic and anaerobic. Both types of exercise are important for overall health. Aerobic exercise — activities that help to strengthen your cardiovascular system and heart – can include running, hill-walking, or rollerblading. Anaerobic exercise – activities performed in short bursts with the goal of increasing strength or flexibility – can include lifting weights, interval training, and sprinting. Both aerobic endurance training and anaerobic strength training strengthen different parts of your body and by maintaining a balance between these two types, you’ll be able to achieve fitness at a much faster rate.

Broadening your knowledge of healthy living is one of the most important investments you can make towards living a healthier and longer life.

How To Get Fitness And Form Without Living At The Gym!

October 23rd, 2009

Is it possible to achieve a high level of fitness and shape your body the way you would like to see it without having to have a permanent presence at the local gym? Can you reach your goals without having to sell your soul to the weight room? I believe it is, and have managed to do so myself. While there is certainly work to be done to get us where we’d like to be in our physical conditioning, as well as in shaping our physique, that doesn’t mean we have to live there! Let’s examine some of the ways you can enhance both your fitness and your looks without sleeping in the locker room! First of all, let me say that if your goals are to become as big as you possibly can, to achieve a high muscle mass with bulging, bodybuilding type muscles making it difficult to find shirts, then this probably isn’t going to be what you want to hear. For that type of training, you will definitely need to spend long hours in the gym and then some. That kind of bulk comes at a price, and the price includes long hours. No, the guys I’m talking to are the ones who hope to build strong core strength, lose excess fat, and make themselves generally fit and altogether more attractive and socially impressive. These guys want to become stronger, but also to find more attraction from women, as well as become more dominant when it comes to social and professional situations. (It’s amazing what this kind of workout can produce in the business arena!) This can be accomplished without having to spend endless hours at the gym, if you are working with a good plan. The plan I’m most fond of for these purposes is called ‘The Adonis Index’ workout. This is a total plan designed to get men to achieve a classic ‘V’ shape physique, consisting of a set of broad, muscular shoulders, tapering down to a trim waist, with a well-defined chest and midsection in between, and no excess fat visible. This is the form that has been revered through the ages as the ideal male shape, and is even rendered by a mathematical formula called ‘The Golden Ratio’, which is expressed as 1:1.618. This plan uses a variety of exercises and a sensible eating plan designed to maximize fat loss, build muscle, all pointing to creating this classic form. It doesn’t take forever to implement, and with the specific direction it gives it can make the process of achieving these kinds of goals much more doable. It meets every man where he is, and gives specific measurement goals depending on your height and starting measurements. For the guy seeking to build a great form and not have a wing enshrined for you at the gym, then The Adonis Index may well be worth checking out!

Utilize the Principals of Bodybuilding to Reach your Fitness and Fat Loss Goals

September 27th, 2009

No matter where you look you can find evidence that looking and feeling great is one of the most prevalent subjects in our society today. Be it the never ending commercials for exercise products or diet programs that we see on TV, or the parade of waif thin models on the covers of the latest fashion magazines, or even the scores of Hollywood actresses or actors parading their beautifully toned bodies on the big screen, being thin and being in shape is on the top of many people’s minds.

While billions of dollars are spent each and every year on specialized exercise equipment or diet products, building muscle and losing fat can be as simple and inexpensive is heading down to your local gym and picking up a set of dumbbells. Bodybuilding is a sport and activity that has been around for more than 100 years and it has been shown to be incredibly effective at transforming one’s physique into a powerful and sculpted thing of beauty. Now, you needn’t be afraid that simply by picking up some weights you are going to grow into a massive piece of meat, but building muscle is one of the fastest and most effective ways in helping you reach your fitness goals. Building muscle works to increase your metabolism so that with every pound of muscle you build, your body becomes more and more effective at burning fat on a regular basis, even when you are NOT working out. In addition, the muscle you build will help you to shape your body so that you can look your absolute best.

Building muscles through active bodybuilding may not be quite as hard as you think. You see, some of the most tried and true bodybuilding exercises are also some of the most efficient at building muscle quickly. Take the squat for instance. Many look at this exercise as simply something to make your thighs bigger, but the fact is, squatting with weights can help you build muscle over your entire body while losing significant amounts of body fat all the while. In addition, by adding an upper body exercise like pull-ups to your bodybuilding regimen, you can shape and tone almost your entire upper body including your shoulders, your entire back, and even your biceps. Many people who try bodybuilding are surprised at the amount of fat that starts falling off their body after they pick up some weights even if they have not increased their aerobic workouts at all. Body building can burn significant calories as well as build muscle. Bodybuilding also acts to help strengthen your heart and cardiovascular system as well.

So if losing fat and looking better are a priority on your list, and perhaps it’s time that you took up the activity of bodybuilding and began taking part in this health promoting and physique improving pastime.

Poway Boot Camp – Get on the Fast Track to Fitness

August 25th, 2009

When you need to kick start your work out into high gear look into a Poway Boot camp. A highly intensive program that will be just what most people need. What will a boot camp offer you that other places will not? And are they worth the cost? These questions will be considered in this article.

Though many boot camps will run you into a bit of a cost, it may well be worth it depending on the results you see. Many boot camps will guarantee their programs for some fantastic results. Many of these places will show schedules online so you can get an idea of what you will be in for.

While some will offer programs that last four weeks or longer, you may also find a few boot camps that will run in sessions. In that choice you will be able to purchase as many sessions with a personal trainer at their facility as you would like. Some Poway boot camps have specials where the more sessions you buy the better cost you will receive.

The trainers who are employed at boot camps will usually have very extensive education behind them. Reaching levels of bachelor’s degrees in sports medicine or some other fields. Plus you will know they have a certification, which obviously means they have education and training for their jobs.

With boot camps you will normally receive one on one attention from your personal trainer, and a program that will be created uniquely for you. How will this work to your advantage? Well with information taken from you concerning your health and any medical conditions. A program can be created that will focus on your goals without causing any damages to your body.

Poway boot camps as well as other boot camps pride themselves on the intensive training you will receive under their care. Even more focused than what you might find at a local gym. If you have the extra money it is thought to spend money on a boot camp will get you into shape better and quicker than going to a gym.

However, the main question you will need to ask yourself is whether the cost will fit into your budget or not. Though if you are extremely sick or overweight a boot camp may well change your life. Look to see if by some chance your medical insurance may cover the costs of a boot camp, though it is highly unlikely.

Though in the long run the decision for a boot camp will be up to the person who is paying the cost, it will be the look. With such intensive training you will still be able to keep off the weight that you have lost.

Poway boot camp will help you reach many goals. With one on one attention from a personal trainer you should see great results. Though you will also see results from a personal trainer in your local gym, if you put enough into it. In the long run you may want to ask yourself where you think you will be motivated more. With the idea of going to a boot camp it may be what you need to push you into action and work hard. You will get what you put into any workout program and what the personal trainer does to push you harder.

Again Poway Boot Camp will also give you a program that you need to follow for the right nutrition too. However, when it comes to whether you should choose a Fitness Boot Camp over a personal trainer you can find in a local gym. It’s best that you compare the programs and the cost.Article Source:http://www.articlesbase.com/health-articles/poway-boot-camp-get-on-the-fast-track-to-fitness-1161049.html

Health Clubs Chino Hills – Never Deal With Fitness Muscle Cramps Again

May 21st, 2009

Muscle cramps can be the result of several things. They are uncomfortable, annoying, painful, and the good news is that most of all, they are avoidable. No matter where you are when a muscle cramp strikes, your local gym, at your home working out, or participating in your local soccer game, muscle cramps hurt. In order for us to be able to avoid muscle cramps, we must take necessary precautions to do just that. If you are not a heavy water drinker then you had better get used to the idea of becoming one, especially if you want to narrow your chances of getting cramps. When a person is working out, they usually sweat a lot, right? Well, sweat puts us at a higher risk of receiving muscle cramps because of the depletion of potassium and sodium.

What are potassium and sodium? They are the two necessary minerals that carry the body’s electrolytes. These electrolytes are what help your muscles to contract and relax. When they are depleted, the muscle loses its ability to contract and relax, therefore sending it directly into a cramp or spasm. The only way to prevent this is to keep your body furnished with fluids such as water and other healthy drinks, which helps maintain the balance between potassium and sodium. There’s not much excuse for allowing your body to become under hydrated. Bottled water is easy to carry along and easy to find. Here are a few more techniques we teach our Ontario health club members that will keep you from ever having to deal with muscle cramps ever again:

1) Take a zinc and magnesium supplement. Magnesium can also be found in dark chocolate, which is good for you. You can find zinc in most dark, green leafy vegetables.

2) Stay hydrated – not just at the gym. That is right, a cramp free muscle needs water all of the time, not for just a portion of your day.

3) Stretch up to 3 times per day at 10 minutes a stretch. This is going to be an effective way for avoiding cramps/spasms, no doubt. By stretching, you will release the tension in your muscles causing them to relax – not to mention this will help you feel much better all over, too.

4) Try to take a deep breath and relax. The tenser an individual is, the more than likely they are to be getting those unnecessary muscle cramps/spasms. Make sure you are doing things that will help you release stress.

5) Sometimes, cramps can be caused by a medical condition or by certain medications. If you feel that this might be your reason for getting them, consult with your physician as soon as possible.

By taking good care of your body and muscles, you increase your chances of not getting muscle cramps. Beware although, that even doctors are still not sure 100% of the exact cause of them, so they do remain a medical mystery. With a little examination, however, the reason is obvious. Dehydration + nutrient and mineral deficiency = muscle cramps. We must be sure that we allow some time into our day to properly take care of our muscles by stretching and relaxing. You might even consider getting a massage to ease tensed up muscles from time to time. Just do not forget to stay hydrated, no matter what you do.
